We Are The Flight Team That Put Jack White and
Third Man Records ICARUS Craft Into Space
Where Vinyl History Was Made!

September, 13, 2016

Nashville, TN, September 13th 2016 - On July 2nd 2016 in Marsing, Idaho Jack White and Third Man Records made vinyl history and played the first ever vinyl record in space, the team they partnered with to launch and recover their ICARUS spacecraft was a non-profit organization called Students And Teachers In Near Space ( SATINS). “Working on this project was an honor and privilege, and we would like to thank Jack White, Kevin Carrico, and everyone at Third Man Records for giving SATINS the opportunity to be part of such an amazing and historical flight” said Founder and CEO of SATINS David Jankowski during the celebration of Third Man Records 7th year anniversary event at their Nashville HQ on July 30th 2016

SATINS was founded in 2012 to provide opportunities for K-12 students to fly their science experiments in a near-space environment. There are unique opportunities with HAB (High Atmospheric Balloon) activities now that commercial Near Space Tourism is a reality that together will lead to a strengthening of America’s role as the world engine of innovation in just over the next decade. Students and teachers will develop their very own near space programs and network with classrooms nationwide in a variety of ways; joint space missions, friendly competitions, local, state, and national science fairs, workshops, and more.

To achieve our mission SATINS has multiple programs which focus on an educational strategy designed to work with students throughout their entire k-12 years, and beyond; as each student progresses through elementary, junior high and high school so too does their level of participation. The highest level of achievement within SATINS, (as a graduating senior) is being selected for the Student Stratonaut Program wear in College students will begin to train for manned missions into near space in support of the global scientific community. We want to give students a taste of what’s possible with a STEM education and career.

Near Space provides the perfect low-cost training environment to prepare future engineers, scientists, and Astronauts as the United States works towards the Human exploration of Mars and beyond. The programs offered through SATINS are unprecedented and perfectly suited to inspire students, teachers, parents and the next generation of explorers. Since the launch of ICARUS we have been receiving calls weekly from teachers, school administrators, the FAA, and people within the HAB community all expressing interest to partner with SATINS by providing support to their local and statewide schools.

To help achieve our mission we have developed the SATINS Special Projects division to support unique projects like ICARUS. Our goals with this division are to partner with businesses and corporations on special launch projects in exchange for donations and PR for SATINS. Whatever your special needs for your promotional event are i.g. Movie/TV - New Product - Social Gaming ect. By partnering with SATINS you will also be inspiring the next generation of thinkers, engineers, and explorers.
